Note: I use roll chart and route sheet interchangably throughout the program.
- Create a route sheet name and fill in the required fields.
- Add route sheet entries to create the roll chart.
- Click on the Create PDF file on the Add Data page.
- Select the print options you want and display teh PDF file.
- When viewing the PDF file, click the save optio and save a copy of the file that you can have posted on a website or print copies for riders at the race.
- To use this program you must create a user account to work with your roll charts. At the very least you must enter a user name and password, but since this is a public use program if you do not add a valid email address for me to contact you, your data may be removed from the site.
- After creating an account, login to start creaing roll charts.
- After logging in click on the "Create a new route sheet " link on the home page
- Fill out the following form fields
- Unique name
- This is a name that must be unique from any othe route sheets associated with your profile.
- Club name
- This is the name of your club that can also be printed on the roll chart.
- Race Date
- Make sure you enter a date in the format notated above the field.
- Start Time
- To make sure the start time is in the proper format you must choose a time from the drop downs.
- Start Speed
- This is required so that time calculations can be correctly calculated.
- Unique name
If you make an error on a entry, click on the D to the left of the entry to remove it and then add a new one in its place. Since this is so easy to do with anything except a note entry I have decided not to create edit options for these entries.
DirectionThis entry is used to display turns or straights. Usually at road sections.
This entry is to change the speed on the course and is normally used in increments of 6.
This is an entry that advances mileage and allows most riders to get back on time after a tough section and is usually used to keep riders from racing down road sections. When a rider gets to a Reset they advance the mileage to the Reset mileage and wait until time catches up before riding on.
This entry is set to 2.9 or 3.0 and allows a rider to verify that their odometer mileage is set correctly with the odometer used to measure the course.
A note can be added and displayed at any mileage. To have it display after the end of the race you must enter a mileage over 999.99 and no more than 9999.99.
A Gas Stop has the same rules as a known control usually with timed checks no closer than 2 miles before, or 3 miles after the Gas Stop.
A Gas Available is similar to a Gas Stop, but no rules apply as far as locations of check points.
This is a entry that will display as the first row of the roll chart and display as Start at 0 miles and the key time.
This is just a End of the race note that will display as the last entry on the roll chart. The mileage for End is set at 999.99 miles so if you need to display a note or something after that you must enter a mileage over 999.99 and no more than 9999.99.
Free Time is the same as Break, Pause, Wait, or Layover but since it is more commonly used I created it with its own entry form. A Free Time entry is used to give users time without the mileage progressing. This is very similar to a Reset except only the time changes.
Example: If the race starts at 9:00am and the start speed is 24 MPH and you add a Free Time for 10 minutes at mile 24.00 - 10:00am. A rider who is on time would wait until 10:10am to start again still at mile 24.00.
A Break, Pause, Wait, or Layover entry is used to give users time without the mileage progressing.
A timed check point whose location is known to all participants.
This is to let riders know there will be no check points from the mileage displayed until the "Free to" mileage.
This differs from a normal Reset in that the reset back to zero happens instantly at the mile selected and there is no free time even for riders who are on time. This is used mainly for a second loop when the club wants it to start at zero miles like the first but the time continues to accumulate from the first loop.
** SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT USING THIS ENTRY TYPE **
I have programmed this function to work similar to how it appears the Watchdog 2000 computer is set to use it. If you have a Reset to zero at mile 48.00 all subsequent entries will be masked. An example of this is that after the Reset to zero an entry at mile 2.00 will display properly but the actual value would be 50.00 (48.00 + 2.00) allowing the time to be calculated properly.
You have two options for entering times after a Reset to zero.
- If you are going to enter the miles after you add the Reset to zero you must add that mileage to the mileage of the Reset and enter the accumulated value
- You can add all entries including those beyond the mileage you will add the Reset to zero at, but the miles after the Reset should be the total value. So if you plan to enter the Reset at mile 48.00 you would keep entering values above that such as an entry at 50.00 miles etc.. After you complete the entries and then insert the Reset all values greater will display starting from zero, So what was 50.00 will display as 2.00 miles.

Background color
I am currently only allowing greyscale background colors for the PDF file since most if not all roll charts are printed in black and white. -
Font Weight
You can display bold text for important entries.
If you enter several entries with the same mileage they will be listed in the following order.
- Start
- Odometer Check
- Mileage-Direction entry
- Speed Change
- Note
- Gas Stop
- Gas Available
- Known Control
- Free Time **same as a break
- Break - Layover - Wait - Pause
- Free Territory
- Reset to Zero
- Reset
- End
After your roll chart is complete you can save an Adobe PDF file to put on your website or send to the webmaster of your website to post. You can select this from the home page or the data entry page for the roll chart. From either link you will be directed to a page that lets you change print options for creating the PDF file.
If you feel there are more help file entries needed, please email me at the link on the bottom of the page and let me kow what it is.
